WHEN YOU ARE OLD
W.B.Yeats
When you are old and grey
and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your
moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside
the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
QUANDO VOCÊ FOR VELHA
Quando você for velha,
grisalha e cheia de sono,
E, cochilando junto à
lareira, tomar este livro,
E lentamente lê-lo, e
sonhar com o olhar suave
Que teus olhos tiveram uma
vez, e com suas sombras profundas;
Quantos amaram teus
momentos de alegre graça,
E amaram tua beleza com
amor falso ou verdadeiro,
Porém um homem amou a
alma peregrina em você,
E amou as mágoas da
transformação de tua face;
E, inclinando-te junto às
incandescentes brasas,
Com certa tristeza, como
o Amor fugiu murmura
E caminha, lá no alto,
sobre as montanhas
E esconde tua face numa
multidão de estrelas.
