Every time the bucks went clattering,
Over Oklahoma
A firecat bristled in the way.

Wherever they went,
They went clattering.
Until they swerved,
In a swift, circular line,
To the right,
Because of the firecat.

Or until they swerved,
In a swift, circular line,
To the left,
Because of the firecat.

The bucks clattered.
The firecat went leaping,
To the right, to the left,
And
Bristled in the way.

Later, the firecat closed his bright eyes
And slept.

ANEDOTAS TERRESTRES

Toda vez que os cervos trovejavam,

Sobre Oklahoma,

Um lince-pardo se arrepiava no caminho.

Enquanto eles iam,

Trocavam os chifres.

Até que eles desviavam,

Em uma rápida linha circular,

Para a direita,

Por causa do lince-pardo.

Ou até que desviavam,

Em uma rápida linha circular,

Para a esquerda,

Por causa do lince-pardo.

Os cervos trovejavam.

O lince-pardo saltava,

Para a direita, para a esquerda,

E

Se arrepiava no caminho.

Mais tarde, o lince-pardo fechou seus olhos brilhantes

E dormiu.
