                                            THE STARS

Edith Södergran
When night comes
I stand on the steps and listen,
stars swarm in the yard
and I stand in the dark.
Listen, a star fell with a clang!
Don’t go out in the grass with bare feet;
my yard is full of shards.

AS ESTRELAS
Quando a noite chega
Eu fico em pé nos degraus e escuto,

Uma multidão de estrelas no meu jardim

e permaneço em pé na escuridão.

Escuta. Caiu com um tinido uma estrela.

Não pise sobre as ervas com os pés desnudos.

Está em mil pedaços o meu jardim.
