Never seek to tell thy love,
  Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind doth move
  Silently, invisibly.

I told my love, I told my love,
  I told her all my heart,
Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears.
  Ah! she did depart!

Soon after she was gone from me,
  A traveller came by,
Silently, invisibly:
  He took her with a sigh.

Nunca tente falar do seu amor,

Amor que nunca foi falado pode ser;

Pois o vento suave se move

Silenciosamente, invisivelmente.

 

Eu falei ao meu amor, eu falei ao meu amor,

Eu lhe falei com todo o meu coração,

Tremendo, frio, com terríveis medos.

Ah! Ela partiu!

 

Logo depois que ela se afastou de mim,

Um viajante passou,

Silenciosamente, invisivelmente:

Ele levou-a com um suspiro.
