The Super Computer

In a big coastal city they built a huge computer.

The man in charge of the department, a straight shooter.

Invited the lord mayor and some others too.

For a grand viewing, to show what it could do.
On this computer is everything known about everyone.

Everything in this city, they have ever said and done.

The smallest or the largest bit of information.

Can be obtained from this computer station.
One person, loud, obnoxious, florid faced, a millionaire.

said "I was born in this town, I'm nothing ordinaire.

Can this machine tell me where my father is today?"

"With the right question I'll have an answer without delay."
"Okay, ask it if it knows where my father is.

"The CP printout said, "On Wivenhoe dam catching fish."

"Aha, my father has been dead for more than a year.

Your computer has completely fouled up I fear.
What that is impossible! I'll ask it in a different way.

The man your mother married is buried under the clay.

But your father my good man, you must listen.

Is with his mates at Wivenhoe dam fishing.

O super computador

Numa grande cidade marítima criaram um enorme computador.

O homem encarregado do departamento, um homem bom de promoção,

Convidou o senhor prefeito e mais outros ilustres moradores

Para uma grande exibição, para mostrar a máquina em ação.

O que podia fazer um computador que sabia de tudo e sobre todos.

Sendo capaz de sobre a cidade informar o que tinham dito e feito.

O menor ou o maior bit de informação, ou seja, informação a rodo

Que podia ser obtida com, do computador, a estação.

Uma pessoa, em voz alta, ofensiva, com rubor na face, um milionário,

disse: "Eu nasci nesta cidade, eu não sou um ordinário.

Esta máquina pode me dizer onde está o meu pai hoje, agora?

"Com a pergunta certa se pode ter uma resposta sem demora."

"Ok, pergunte se ela sabe onde está o meu pai na dúvida não me deixe".

A Central Processadora imprimiu: "Em Wivenhoe na barragem capturando peixe."

"Ah!, o meu pai foi morto há mais de um ano.

Seu computador errou completamente a resposta temo foi um engano.

O que isto é impossível! Vou colocá-la de outro modo.
