ORANGE 

Wendy Cope

At lunchtime I bought a huge orange-
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave-
They got quarters and I had a half.

And that orange, it made me so happy,
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It’s new.

The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I’m glad I exist.

A LARANJA 

Na hora do almoço, comprei uma laranja enorme-

O tamanho dela nos fez rir.

Descasquei-a e compartilhei com Robert e Dave-

Eles ganharam moedas de 25 centavos e eu, metade.

E aquela laranja me fez tão feliz,

Como coisas comuns costumam fazer

Ultimamente. As compras. Um passeio no parque.

Isso é paz e contentamento. É novo.

O resto do dia foi tão tranquilo.

Fiz todas as tarefas da minha lista

E tive prazer com elas e ainda me sobrou um tempinho.

Eu te amo. Estou feliz por existir.
